Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp Sunflower Oil
  • 1/4 cup Warm water
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp Salt to taste
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 3 tbs Dessicated coconut
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 cm square Fresh ginger
  • 2 medium Green Chilli
  • 1/4 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cumin and coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seed powder
  • 1 tsp Mango powder
  • 1 tbsp Gram flour

Instructions

  1. For the pastry sift the flour, salt and baking powder. Add 1/4 tbs oil and form a bread crumb like mixture.
  2. Add water and form a tight dough.
  3. Boil or steam the peas coarsely mash.
  4. 1 tsp oil add and heat the cumin.
  5. Crush ginger and green chilli and fry off with the cumin.
  6. Fry for a minute. Add chilli powder, turmeric, cumin and corriander powder, fennel seeds powder, mango powder and salt to taste.
  7. Add coarsely peas and cocnut and stir.
  8. Add 1tbsp gram flour saute for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Roll into 3-4 inch round dough on a dusted board
  10. Add stuffing to the middle.
  11. Bring together all the edges and pinch them and press down.
  12. Heat oil for frying and put to medium heat fry the kachoris till they become golden, flaky and crisp.
